Where is Asheville Forager located?

We're at 35 Wall Street in downtown Asheville, NC 28801 — in the heart of downtown, just off Patton Avenue.

What are your hours?

We're open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and Sunday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Can I order online?

Yes. You can order deli sandwiches and more online through Toast for pickup, curbside pickup, or e-bike delivery. For curbside, just pull up and we'll bring your order out.

Do you deliver?

We do — by e-bike! We cover about a 2-mile radius, which includes all of downtown Asheville. See how delivery works.

Are your products locally sourced?

Absolutely. We partner with over 50 local farms, producers, and artisans across Western North Carolina, and we operate as a zero-waste grocery.

Do you offer catering?

We do — from charcuterie boards and sandwich platters to full-service catering for events. Visit our catering page or call 828-617-1387 to plan your event.

Who makes your bread?!

Well, we do! Right in the ovens in the back!

Are your sub rolls made daily?

Yes, we handmake all of our rolls every morning. If you catch us early, they might be from the night before, as we can't always predict the time frames perfectly.

Do you offer wholesale orders?

Yes, we can do wholesale orders for your business, home, store, or anything you desire. We can make anything you need, special requests and all.

What types of bread do you make?

Sourdough, challah, dinner rolls, sandwich bread, potato, focaccia, sub rolls, jalapeño cheese, berry, and any special requests you'd like.

How much time do you need for a special request?

Most requests in the bakery need 1–2 days depending on the type and quantity.

What ARE those pastries and danishes?!

All of our pastries, danishes, croissants, muffins, and more are made in house — some more fancy than others!

Where do I order?

At the front desk, under the "Order Here" sign.

How does your turkey get prepped?

Our turkey comes from regional farms, where the birds are ethically raised and antibiotic free. We then season and cook them, butcher them, and separate the meat dark and white for your subs. We use the wings and legs for grab-and-go, and cook the bones down to make bone broth. We strive for zero waste, including the complete use of the turkey.

Where do you get your meat?

Our meat comes from our local farmer partners Shipley Farms and Hickory Nut Gap. Both farms are open for public viewing, the animals handled properly and antibiotic free.

Can I create my own?

Absolutely! You can place an order on the Order Here button and create your own, or modify any of our featured subs!

How can I get one without coming in?

You can order online, or on the phone for curbside pickup — or we can bring it to you with our e-bike delivery service! Need not worry about parking if you don't want to!

Can I eat one if I am pregnant?

Absolutely!!!! One of the largest things co-owner Heather craved while pregnant with her and Paddy's last born was subs, but she could not have them with deli meat — but not ours! Since our turkey is whole fresh turkey without preservatives, as well as our other meat, you can safely eat our subs while pregnant!

How much does it cost?

All of our items have a price next to them for the 14", and the 7" are (mostly) half of the price!

Can you cut it for me?

Absolutely! We do ask that you let us know in advance if you'd like it cut, as we cannot take anything back once it's on your table — but we can let you cut it yourself afterwards if you forget!

Can you split two kinds of subs onto one sandwich?

Nope! Just order 2! We've got you!

Do you take food stamps?

Not yet. Every time we try, there is a shutdown, something breaks, or it doesn't work out. We are trying, and we will let you know once we do.

Can I have a large order or a catering order? What's the difference?

We can absolutely accommodate any large amount of orders. You can order whole or half sized subs, or a catering order where the subs are cut into quarters in our catering trays for you to place out. The whole and half subs are wrapped in our deli paper, versus the catering ones will be open in the trays.

What is in this?

Each one of our subs in the grab-and-go has a sticker associated with what menu item it is! The mystery ones often create their own types and there is no way for us to know which is which! It's the fun of guessing!

I heard something about half offs? What is that about?

At the beginning of the day, any leftovers from the night before are 50% off! Sometimes a little soggy, but a lot of people say that makes them even better. These are first come, first served, and often are sold out by 9 AM!

Can I open it and add stuff?

Nope! If you want to change it, you have to order a new one! The health department told us to tell you this!

What time was it made?

That day, unless it is marked off. Our deli opens at 10:30, so if it's not half off, then it was made then or after.

Where do you get your produce?

All of our produce comes locally and is distributed by Mountain Farms! Each item varies week to week depending on what farm has what in stock, crops that weren't damaged, and so on.

Is everything organic?

Not necessarily everything, but most items are!

How is the produce sold — by the pound or by the item?

Some things are by the container (such as strawberries), some are by the pound (such as herbs), and others are by the quality (such as tomatoes). Most items have the proper labels with prices, but sometimes they get missed due to the rotation of all of the products!

Do you have staple items?

We totally do! We have our homemade breads, sugar, flour, cheese, cereal, milk, and all of the things a “traditional” grocery store has — except we have more local and more unique things than others do! Check out our aisles and look often, as they change a lot based on your requests!

Where does your meat come from?

Most of our meat comes from Shipley Farms, Hickory Nut Gap Farms, and other regional farms. Sometimes other special items come from other locations, but everything is analyzed prior to making a new selection.

How much does it cost?

Priced by the pound! Each item is cut to order, weighed, and then given to you with the price!

Can I buy the same ingredients that are in the subs to take home?

Absolutely!!!

Can I have a hand cut item?

If we have it, you can have it! We have no problem even cutting down larger uncooked meats for specialty cuts, as well as the traditional deli-style products.

Can you deliver a large catering order?

Yes! For orders over $50 we can deliver within about 30 minutes for a small delivery fee. See our catering options to get started.

How much do you charge for delivery?

If you order for delivery, the website charges a small ($2) fee — but we don't charge anything extra on top of that.

Parking is terrible, how do you get it to me?

We use an e-bike! Better for the environment, and better for parking.

How far do you deliver?

Within about 2 miles, give or take — if you don't know, call! But all of downtown is covered.

What do you offer for catering?

We can do anything you want! We offer charcuterie boards, breakfast catering, box lunches, subs, cookies, and much more! We have successfully catered office parties, gatherings for friends, anniversaries, weddings, church events, and more!

How much does catering cost per person?

It depends on what you are looking for. We price out based on size, location, items, event, and more. We work hard to stay in everyone's budget, so give us a call at 828-617-1387 to get a quote!

How much time do you need for a catering order?

It depends on what you are looking for. If it is 10 boxed lunches and you give us an hour or two, we have you! If you are looking for 20 delivered cakes, we're going to need a few days' heads up!

If I hire you, will you set it up at my event?

YES! We LOVE doing those set-ups, as it gets us out! We don't have the ability to have staff stay and serve (unless requested at least 2 weeks in advance), but we can deliver and set up for you!

Do you deliver catering orders?

Yes. For orders over $50 we can deliver within about 30 minutes for a small delivery fee — by e-bike, so downtown parking is never a problem. See how delivery works.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes. Many of our items can be made vegetarian or vegan, and we're happy to work around allergies and dietary needs — just let us know when you reach out.

Can I customize a catering package?

Absolutely. Every board, platter, and full-service menu can be tailored to your event, headcount, and budget. Just tell us what you have in mind.

How many people do your packages serve?

Our boards and platters serve from 4 up to 14 or more people, and full-service catering scales to larger gatherings. See the options on our catering page, or ask us to build something custom.

How do I place a catering order?

Order online through ezCater, email us at ashevilleforager@gmail.com, or call 828-617-1387. We'll confirm the details, timing, and pickup or delivery.
